What is the Gospel?
The Problem
We do not stand neutral before God. His law reveals what we are: not merely imperfect, but guilty. Sin is the breaking of God’s Law and justice must be served. Every attempt at self-justification eventually fails, because the problem lies deeper than behaviour. Before God’s righteousness, we have no righteousness of our own.
The Provision
The good news is that God has dealt with sin in Christ the Son. He offered Himself in the place of sinners. At the cross, justice was fully satisfied and the debt was paid in full. God did not relax His standard to save; He fulfilled it through Christ. Salvation rests not on possibility, but on the finished work of Christ.
The Promise
What Christ accomplished is received by faith. Those who trust in Him are forgiven, counted righteous and reconciled to God, not through effort or moral reform, but through union with Christ. The believer stands accepted because Christ’s righteousness stands in their place. The record is cleared. The verdict is peace. The glory belongs to Christ alone.
